By the People Festival: A City-Wide Celebration of Art From June 15 to June 23

From June 15th to the 23rd, the By the People Festival takes over the city with live performances, enormous art installations and other celebrations of art in its many forms. The festival will unfold at venues all across the city over the course of about a week, and all you have to do is register online (for free) to participate.

Much of the festival will take place at its hubs, the Smithsonian Arts + Industries Building, Union Market, and CityCenterDC. However, one of the locations isn’t even on land — it’s a floating venue that will dock in Georgetown, the Navy Yard, and Anacostia throughout the festival. Check out the art-themed dinner at the National Mall on June 21st or celebrate the Summer Solstice with late-night hours at the Smithsonian museums on June 22nd, when you’ll be able to explore until midnight.
