Where to See the July Fourth Fireworks Near Trellis House

June 24, 2019

The 4th of July is the nation’s most patriotic holiday, and what better place to enjoy the day than Washington, DC? The capitol city goes all out to celebrate Independence Day, capping off the festivities with a massive fireworks display on the National Mall. The fireworks (launched from West Potomac Park) are slated to begin at 9:10 pm, but if you want to snag a good vantage point you’ll need to arrive quite a bit earlier than that. Luckily, there’s plenty going on all day long. At noon there’s a parade featuring marching bands, equestrian troops, traditional floats, fife and drum corps, and much more. Throughout the afternoon, the Mall will have a festival-like atmosphere, with plenty of games, food vendors, and family picnics. Finally, at 8 pm you can settle yourself down to wait for the fireworks show as you listen to an open-air concert featuring performers like the National Symphony Orchestra, Carole King, Vanessa Williams, and more.
